  • Approach to the Lord’s table:

At the Table of the Lord – words and music: Jay Althouse
Sung by Knox Church Choir

At the table of the Lord bread is broken.
At the table of the Lord we are fed.
We remember now the words that Christ has spoken:
“This is my body,” He said.

At the table of the Lord, in thanksgiving,
we have come to drink the wine which is poured.
We remember Him, who died for us, now living.
We remember Christ, our Lord.

At the table of the Lord, we are meeting.
In communion we are many in one.
For wherever we are gathered,
there our Lord will be,
there our Lord will be.

At the table of the Lord,
at the table of the Lord,
at the table of the Lord we shall be free.

  • Communion
  • Hymn 527: Eternal Father strong to save
  • Benediction:

God Speed You-Words: Shirley Murray, Music:Shona Murray
Sung by Knox Church Choir

God speed you on your way,
safe keep you every day,
give you wing, cause to sing,
all this we wish and pray.

God give you space to thrive,
all senses kept alive.
Health and hope, means to cope,
joyfully to arrive.

God lead you to the new
places and points of view,
roads to take, friends to make,
more life to travel through.

Trinity Sunday – “The Trinity Call”

7 June 2020

Sian Scannell

Service Leader: Graeme Gainsford

“Prayer means lovingly contemplating the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, allowing our hearts to be enkindled to praise and adore the love and omnipotence of the most blessed Trinity.” – Basilea Schlink

  • Call to Worship
  • Hymn: We love the place, O God (William Bullock 1798-1874 & Henry Baker 1821-77/Tune: Quam Dilecta)

We love the place, O God,
wherein thine honour dwells;
the joy of thine abode
all earthly joy excels.

It is the house of prayer,
wherein thy servants meet;
and thou, O Lord, art there,
thy chosen flock to greet.

We love the word of life,
the word that tells of peace,
of comfort in the strife,
and joys that never cease.

We love to sing below
for mercies freely given;
but O we long to know
the triumph song of heaven!

Lord Jesus, give us grace,
on earth to love thee more,
in heaven to see thy face,
and with thy saints adore.

  • Prayers of Adoration and Confession and Lord’s Prayer
  • Church Community and Notices
  • Prayers for others (Kathleen Caughley)
  • Scripture Reading: Matthew 28: 16-20 (Kathleen Caughley)
  • Sermon: The Trinity Call
  • Hymn: I Bind Unto Myself Today (St Patrick/Tune: St Patrick)

I bind unto myself today
the strong name of the Trinity,
by invocation of the same,
the Three in One, and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever,
by power of faith, Christ’s incarnation;
his baptism in the Jordan river;
his death on cross for my salvation;
his bursting from the spiced tomb;
his riding up the heavenly way;
his coming at the day of doom:
I bind unto myself today.

I bind unto myself today
the virtues of the star-lit heaven,
the glorious sun’s life-giving ray,
the whiteness of the moon at even,
the flashing of the lightning free,
the whirling wind’s tempestuous shocks,
the stable earth, the deep salt sea
around the old eternal rocks.

I bind unto myself today
the power of God to hold and lead,
his eye to watch, his might to stay,
his ear to hearken to my need,
the wisdom of my God to teach,
his hand to guide, his shield to ward,
the word of God to give me speech,
his heavenly host to be my guard.

I bind unto myself the Name,
the strong name of the Trinity,
by invocation of the same,
the Three in One, and One in Three,
of whom all nature hath creation,
eternal Father, Spirit, Word,
Praise to the Lord of my salvation:
salvation is of Christ the Lord!  Amen

  • Benediction
